In the 94th minute, unbridled joy broke out for Chelsea and caretaker boss Calum McFarlane as Enzo Fernández bundled in a injury-time equaliser. The goal left Pep Guardiola ranting in frustration and handed the temporary Chelsea manager a career-defining moment. On paper, Guardiola versus McFarlane could be billed as the Premier League's greatest managerial mismatch, making the memory of Fernández's crucial intervention one to warm the 40-year-old for years to come.

A Glaring Contrast in Pedigree

On the City bench was the most decorated manager of his time, a man with four decades of silverware for elite clubs Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City, overseeing his 1,012th match. In the opposite technical area, was a one-time trainer at non-league sides Croydon and Whyteleafe, who had served in City's own academy and stepped up to make his first-team debut after being temporarily promoted from his regular role guiding Chelsea's youth teams.
